A measure of how much solar radiation is reflected by a surface. Surfaces with high albedo, such as snow and ice, reflect more radiation and absorb less heat than surfaces with low albedo, such as asphalt and soil. Albedo can influence the Earth’s temperature and climate, as it affects the amount of solar radiation that is absorbed by the planet.
