GDE Admissions 2024: Guide to the Application Process and Key Details

The Gauteng Department of Education has announced dates for applications for admissions for grade 1 and grade 8 for 2024.

Important Dates and Deadlines

Applications will:

open on Thursday, 15 June 2023
close on Friday, 14 July 2023.

Parents must apply at https://www.gdeadmissions.gov.za from the 15 June. Note – the website will only allow new applications from 08.00 am on the 15th June. Contact the GDE at the details below if you have any issue.

Notes

Apply to a maximum of 5 schools.
Utilize the Home option at least once to apply to schools within your home address’ Feeder Zone.
Submit required documents to all applied schools within 7 days of application.
Alternatively, upload documents to the system for one school, and they’ll be accessible by the others.
Decentralized Walk-in Centres are available for assistance in making applications.
Centres operate from 08:00 to 16:00.
Applications can be made via cell phone.
Use a reliable cell phone number for registration.
Expect regular SMS updates from the Department on the provided cell phone number.
