Previous Learning:
Students have been learning about their family members and their roles at home. They have also been introduced to basic community helpers like the postman and the librarian.

Anticipated Challenges and Solutions:
Challenge: Some students might not have exposure to various jobs or might have difficulty with new vocabulary.
Solution: Use plenty of visual aids and real-world examples to introduce each job. Offer extra support and repetition for vocabulary comprehension.

Beginning Activities (4 minutes):
1. Greeting and Introduction: Greet the students and briefly explain that today we will learn about different jobs people do.
2. Activate Prior Knowledge: Ask students if they know what a job is and if they can name any jobs they think their family members or friends might have.

Middle Activities (32 minutes):
1. Story Time (10 minutes): Read a storybook about different jobs. Pause occasionally to ask questions about the story and the jobs mentioned.
2. Picture Card Activity (10 minutes): Show picture cards of different jobs one by one. Explain what each person does, using simple language.
3. Matching Game (7 minutes): Use the chart with job titles and descriptions. Read the descriptions aloud and have students match them with the correct picture cards.
4. Colouring Activity (5 minutes): Hand out colouring sheets featuring different jobs. Let students colour the sheets and talk about the jobs depicted.

End Activities (4 minutes):
1. Review and Recap: Ask students to name the jobs they learned about today. Encourage them to share which job they found most interesting and why.
2. Exit Ticket: Have each student tell the teacher one job they learned about before leaving the class.

Assessment and Checks for Understanding:
Oral Responses: During storytime and the picture card activity, assess students’ understanding through their answers and comments.
Matching Game: Use the matching game to check if students can correctly identify jobs and their descriptions.
Exit Ticket: The students’ ability to name a job they learned about will serve as a final check for understanding.

Differentiation Strategies for Diverse Learners:
For Visual Learners: Use clear and colourful picture cards and storybooks.
For ELL (English Language Learners): Use gestures and expressions to explain the jobs. Simplify language and provide translations where possible.
For Advanced Learners: Ask them to come up with additional jobs they know about and share with the class.

Teaching Notes:
– Emphasise participation and ensure every child has a chance to speak.
– Keep explanations simple and age-appropriate.
– Encourage creativity and curiosity by allowing students to role-play different jobs if time permits.
– Ensure materials are accessible to students with disabilities, such as providing large print cards or using tactile elements for those with visual impairments.

This lesson aims to expand students’ horizons about the world of work while building their language skills in a fun and engaging way.
