Matric Certificate: How to Get or View Your NSC (Official Routes)

There is no free public portal that lets every candidate download a permanent National Senior Certificate (NSC) PDF. Searches for “download matric certificate PDF” usually need one of the official routes below: a Statement of Results, a replacement certificate, or an authenticity check for an employer.

What you need and where to go

You want… Correct route

If a process, fee or turnaround is not shown on those pages when you apply, monitor the official portal and use the amount and instructions shown at payment time. Do not rely on older blog copy.

Fees and timing (confirm when you pay)

From DBE Certification Services, fees valid 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027:

Processing for replacements with records on the system is typically about four to six weeks. A Statement of Results can be obtained immediately when records are on the system. Archive retrieval takes longer.

The e-Re-Issue subpage may still show an older fee (for example R141 from an earlier fee year). Trust Certification Services and the amount shown when you pay on eservices.gov.za.

Documents you will usually need (replacement path)

For lost or damaged certificates, Certification Services lists:

  • An affidavit stating what happened to the certificate
  • The damaged original if it still exists (return it)
  • A certified copy of your identity document
  • Proof of payment

For combination / change of status (credits from more than one sitting): results from all sittings, certified ID, and proof of payment. The department does not automatically combine credits unless you fall under the published rules for that cycle.

Online applications on eservices require electronic copies of the supporting documents listed on the e-Re-Issue page. Exact upload rules follow the portal when you apply.

What not to do

  • Do not pay a middleman for a “same-day certificate PDF” outside education.gov.za, gov.za, eservices.gov.za, umalusi.org.za or umalusi-online.org.za.
  • Do not treat a screenshot of online results as your permanent qualification.
  • Do not confuse commercial adult-matric adverts with the official replacement or results process.
  • Do not confuse verification (employer authenticity check) with replacement (you need a new document).
