7. Beginning Activities (10% of time):

- Interactive Story Time (5 minutes): Read a short story about “A Day at School” to introduce different areas of the school in a fun and relatable way.
8. Middle Activities (80% of time):
Activity 1: Picture Card Matching (10 Minutes)
– Show the learners picture cards of different school areas. Ask them to name each area as a class and discuss the function and importance of each place.
Activity 2: Guided School Tour (30 Minutes)
– Take the learners on a physical tour of the school. Visit the classroom, playground, office, library, hall, and canteen. At each stop, discuss and describe the area. Allow learners to ask questions and share their thoughts.
Activity 3: Interactive Map Activity (20 Minutes)
– Return to the classroom and display a simple map of the school on the interactive whiteboard or chart paper. Work together to place small coloured flags or stickers on the map to mark the areas visited during the tour. Encourage learners to share what they remember from each place.
Activity 4: Worksheet Activity (20 Minutes)
– Distribute worksheets with school area illustrations. Ask learners to colour and label each part of the school. Assist where necessary and discuss the importance of each area once more.
9. End Activities (10% of time):
- Reflection Circle (5 minutes): Gather the learners in a circle. Encourage them to share their favourite part of the school tour and what they learned about it.
- Closing Activity (5 minutes): Sing a song or chant about school to reinforce the day’s learning in a fun and engaging way.
10. Assessment and Checks for Understanding:
- Observation: Monitor learners’ engagement and participation during activities.
- Questioning: Ask questions about the different school areas during and after the tour.
- Worksheets: Review the completed worksheets for understanding of the school environment concepts.
- Reflection: Listen to reflections shared during circle time to gauge understanding and retention of information.
