Teaching is far more than just a profession—it’s a calling that can change lives and shape the future. If you’re passionate about education and aspire to be a positive force in the community, then the Funza Lushaka Bursary Programme presents an unparalleled opportunity. The bursary aims to cultivate a new generation of teachers, particularly focusing on subjects that are vital for South Africa’s progress.
Why Teaching?
Think about the teachers who’ve had a lasting impact on you. They did more than just impart knowledge; they encouraged you, challenged you, and perhaps even changed the course of your life. As a teacher, you have the incredible power to do the same—to mould future leaders, astronauts, and innovators. Your influence will be immeasurable, and its effects will ripple through time. Doesn’t that sound fulfilling?
About the Funza Lushaka Bursary
The Funza Lushaka Bursary (FLB) is specifically targeted at young individuals under the age of 30 who have either passed matric with a Bachelors pass or meet the requirements for university admission. During the selection process, the Directorate collaborates with various stakeholders, from provinces and districts to schools and community leaders. Importantly, the bursary is not a one-size-fits-all programme. Instead, it tailors its focus based on specific needs, such as subjects that are currently in high demand.
