For Grade 1 teachers planning the week of Monday 2 to Friday 6 November 2026 (Term 4 Week 5).
This week we will be starting the Weeks 5 and 6 Maths block (number 18, groups of five, sharing, money and patterns), finishing the Life Skills topic Homes with model homes and clay models, and starting the English FAL theme Our living history with the y- sound.
Remember to plan when you will give the Maths SBA written task for Weeks 5 and 6, collect boxes, sticks and clay for building model homes, and find pictures of old and new things for the English FAL history words. Check workbook page numbers against the edition your class uses.
Where this week fits
- Term 4 runs from 6 October to 9 December 2026, so this is the fifth week of the term. There are no public holidays this week.
- Mathematics: this is the first week of the Weeks 5 and 6 block in the ATP. The block has an SBA task, so plan when you will give it over the two weeks.
- Life Skills: this is the second and last week of the topic Homes (Weeks 4 and 5). Picture maps follows in Week 6.
- English FAL: follow the Week 5 column of the Term 4 ATP.
Grade 1 Mathematics
Number 18, bonds to 9, estimating and counting, before, after and between, groups of five, sharing among 5 with remainders, money, add and subtract to 16, and geometric patterns.
Grade 1 Life Skills
Topic: Homes. Comparing homes, what homes are made of, designing and making a model home, clay models of ourselves, and hopping, spinning and rope walking in PE.
Grade 1 English FAL
Theme: Our living history. Past, present and future words, sight words family, special, your and about, the y- sound, and the writing frame “I know that…”.
Pacing note
If your class is behind, do not skip ahead to keep up with these plans. Finish the current topic, carry unfinished work into next week and use the daily mental maths and oral sessions to keep revising. If you are ahead, use the extension activities in each plan.
